I took great joy in--and was only slightly disturbed by-- this thorough manual on buffet eating (gorging): http://eatingtheroad.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/the-all-inclusive-all-you-can-eat-buffet-guide/. Broken into sections of types of buffets; objective; preparation; location; pre-meal setup; strategy; etiquette; and exit strategy and postgame, this is a step by step guide to giving yourself the gift of heart disease. There's obvious guidance like wear pants with an elastic band and don't fill up on bread, but also some novel suggestions like eating a small meal with sugar in it earlier in the day to get your metabolism going. I have conflicting feelings about buffets, but I have to respect the careful parsing of the experience and ritual, even if it is satire. I also have to love the comments, which like so many comments on the internet are studded with nuanced and well-reasoned perspectives like, "Oh and by the way….all American’s are fat." An extensive blog post about how best to descend into a depth of gluttony that considers dessert as a bridge to a "second wind"?: That's Bloggertainment! Add Comment |
